Barbara Clute-Simon

I offer clarity wherever communication is consequential, emotionally charged or complex.

The insitutional foundation of my career is a masters degree in conference interpreting from the university of Leipzig as well as a certification as a mediator from Steinbeis-Akademie. Past experiences in both journalism and advertisment have shaped my professional understanding of communication and freelance work. A key point of reference in my career is 15 years of experience in associations and collectives. It is here, where I learned to facilitate, mediate and cooperate in the fray. These experiences have shaped my view of organizations and responsibility as well as my skills in navigating relationships and dealing with conflict.

In my work I combine multipartiality, structure and reliability on the one hand with empathy, curiosity and humanity on the other. I work professionally with language in situations, in which miscommunication can have real consequences.

My goal is to open spaces for understanding where they are most needed. By this I want to contribute to building back barriers and creating a foundation for collective, sustainable transformation.

When I'm not working I am a passionate athlete: Yoga teaches me to face novelty with flexibility rather than resistance. Calisthenics builds trust in my own power. And Muay Thai, my big passion, shows me how to act dynamically and assertive without losing sight of respect and togetherness.

Sometimes I am a part of small film crews. I love to work the camera to transform ideas into picture and then edit the raw potential into it's final form. After years of writing alone at my computer I quickly got caught in the collective energy present on a film set.

Whenever I want to calm down it is most likely with a cup of tea and a book on my couch. Might be it's some fascinating nonfiction, building my skills or teaching me something about the world. But just as likely it's a sci-fi.novel, inviting me to dream about how our futures will look like.
